Clear PVB Interlayer Film
Novis Aura is a clear PVB interlayer film for laminated safety glass. Supplied in the standard 0.38 mm to 1.52 mm thickness ladder, it bonds glass plies under heat and pressure to retain fragments after breakage, block over 99% of UV radiation, and reduce sound transmission across the glazing.

Overview
Optical-grade clear interlayer for laminated safety glass.
Aura is the workhorse of the Novis interlayer range — the grade specified when the glass has to be strong, clear and predictable. Low haze and neutral transmission mean a multi-ply build-up stays visually clean rather than accumulating a green or yellow cast as thickness increases.
Adhesion is the property that decides whether laminated glass performs. Aura is supplied with controlled adhesion so processors can hit consistent post-breakage retention without fighting the autoclave cycle — too much adhesion embrittles the laminate, too little lets fragments release.
Every batch is tested for the properties that govern the lamination line: thickness uniformity, haze, moisture content and adhesion. Test data is available with the consignment.
Post-breakage retention
Fragments stay bonded to the interlayer instead of falling. This is the entire safety case for laminated glass, and it is governed by adhesion control rather than film thickness.
Over 99% UV blocked
PVB absorbs ultraviolet across the damaging range, protecting interior finishes, fabrics and displays behind the glazing without a coating or tint.
Acoustic damping
The interlayer damps vibration across the glass, reducing sound transmission relative to monolithic glass of the same total thickness.
Low haze, neutral cast
Optical clarity holds up in thick and multi-ply build-ups where colour shift becomes visible in lower-grade film.

Novis Aura FAQs
What thickness of PVB interlayer do I need?
Architectural glazing typically uses 0.76 mm (two plies) as the baseline. Balustrades, overhead glazing and walkable floors generally move to 1.52 mm for higher post-breakage strength. Automotive windscreens standardise on 0.76 mm. Thickness is driven by structural requirement and the governing standard, not by clarity — Aura holds optical performance across the full range.
Does Novis Aura require refrigerated storage?
It requires controlled storage rather than refrigeration: 15–25 °C at 20–30% relative humidity, in sealed original packaging. PVB is hygroscopic, and moisture pickup is the most common cause of bond defects and edge delamination in finished laminates.
Which standards does laminated glass made with PVB have to meet?
The laminate is certified, not the film. In India that is IS 2553 Part 1. In Europe, EN ISO 12543 defines the product and EN 14449 governs conformity evaluation. North America uses ANSI Z97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201. Australia and New Zealand use AS/NZS 2208.
Can Novis Aura be used with tempered and heat-strengthened glass?
Yes. Aura laminates with annealed, heat-strengthened and fully tempered glass. Tempered laminates require closer attention to roller wave and edge quality, since surface distortion affects bond uniformity across the sheet.
What causes edge delamination in laminated glass?
Almost always moisture. Either the interlayer absorbed water before lamination, or the finished laminate sits with exposed edges in persistently wet conditions. Controlled storage before lamination and proper edge protection in the glazing detail address both.
